No speech recognizer — your voice itself is compared with reference recordings (the teacher's recordings of every SPSV2 sound, plus dictionary word recordings) and judged by its features:
voiced or unvoiced, long 全角 or short 半角, steady or changing, halt / flow / nasal, stressed or not, and whether a helper schwa (ə) follows.
1. Pick a target sound — choose the SPSV2 sign you want to practise (and, for a consonant, whether you will add its helper schwa). The page checks each of its features. (What did I say?, which shows signs for anything you say, is admin-only for now.)
2. Press the mic and say one sound (e.g. ā), a consonant with or without its helper schwa (e.g. n or nə, p or pə), or a short word.
3. Stop — press the mic again, or just stay quiet for a moment and it stops by itself.
4. Read the result — each card shows the features the sign was judged from. Tap ▶, a sign, or the timeline to hear that part of your voice again.
Best results: a quiet room, the mic about a hand's width from your mouth, and one clear sound at a time.
Sounds with a yellow highlight were hard to judge — check the “Also possible” list on their card.
Some pairs sound almost the same on their own (f / th, m / n, y / ē, w / ū), so treat those as close matches.
