1. Choose a level — Levels 1–5 = Grades 1–5 vocabulary · Levels 6–12 = Grades 6–12 (harder words). Each level has 40 words ordered from shortest to longest.
2. Choose a mode — Spelling: type the letters of the word · Phonetic Signs: type the Standard Phonetic Signs (e.g. ā, ē, sh, ch)
3. Choose a voice — Google: free browser voice · Google Cloud: high-quality neural voice · ⚡ Azure: Microsoft neural voice (pick US or GB speaker from the dropdown)
4. Press ▶ Start — A word loads automatically. Press 🔊 Play to hear it. You can press Play as many times as you need.
5. Click the keys below to fill in the answer boxes — click a filled box to erase back to that position · In Spelling mode you can also type directly from your keyboard
6. Hints — 💡 Definition: shows the English meaning · 🇯🇵 Japanese: shows the Japanese translation · 👁 Show Answer: reveals the full answer
7. Press Submit — ✅ Green = correct · ❌ Red = incorrect (correct answer shown). Then press Next → to continue. Your score is shown at the top.
